Literature Text

There once was a boy with a round chubby face
And a toad with a love of escape
His family thought that he might be a Squib
And his boggart was Professor Snape

At Hogwarts he couldn't do anything right
He melted his cauldrons and spilled all his potions
You'd better watch out if you're with him in Charms
He'll take your eye out with his clumsy wand motions

He has a Remembrall which always glows scarlet
His Banishing charm knocked over Flitwick
He always forgets the common room password
And don't let him get near a broomstick!

What a loser, pathetic, a moron, a joke
Or is there more here than what meets the eye?
Friendship and courage and bravery
If he finds the confidence to try

He could have been marked with the lightning bolt scar
For a Seer did prophesize :
"Born to those who have thrice defied him
Born as the seventh month dies..."

But the Dark Lord chose the other child
And made the prophecy complete
Yet still the young man of our tale
Had a hand in the Dark Lord's defeat

He signed his name to Dumbledore's Army
He fought at the Department of Mysteries
He defied the Carrows and slayed the great snake
His name is a part of Wizarding history

And so the hopeless clumsy one proved everybody wrong
They thought him a loser, pathetic, a zero
But he's loyal, a fighter, his parents' son...
Yes, Neville Longbottom's a hero
ABOUT THE POEM :

I used to be a member of a wonderful website that replicates the experience of being a Hogwarts student. I wrote this poem as part of an extra credit project and just thought I'd submit it here. I know it's not a great poem but I still like it because it illustrates my love for Neville. He went through so much character development throughout the course of this series.

PS : If you're interested in checking out the website it can be found here : myHogwarts
I highly recommend it to any HP fan who's still bummed that they never got their Hogwarts letter :D

Great poem!
The style reminds me a bit of the Sorting Hat's song, which makes it all the cooler!
And yes, Neville is awesome! :)
